BOA Plant stand at a show.

Background

Formed as a division of the Barretts of Aspley Group in 2014, BOA Plant Hire supplies a wide range of self-operated plant hire, transportation and haulage solutions, tool hire and contract lift services, with a wealth of knowledge and experience gained from over 25 years within the construction industry, supplying a safe, fast, and efficient service.

The company’s range of plant machinery features the latest models from the world’s leading suppliers such as Kubota, Hitachi, and Thwaites, with a growing fleet and future plans for expansion, BOA Plant has a lot of inventory to manage. That’s why they chose Point of Rental to manage their processes of setting priorities, distributing and controlling jobs.

Problem

As a brand new company, BOA Plant were starting from scratch, relying on self-built Excel spreadsheets and manual recordings of business functions. As they expanded into a full fleet of plant machinery and services, they realized they’d need software built for that purpose.

Solution

After searching for a software that would suit their needs, BOA Plant reviewed Point of Rental, which had “the most impressive and complete system available on the market,” according to Hire Negotiator Tom Crussell. “The swift implementation and range of functionality placed it above the other systems.”

Result

BOA Plant has found the program’s depth and ease of use to be invaluable. The user-friendly nature made it easy for Crussell as he learned the system, and it’s allowed BOA Plant to continue to integrate new employees within their fast-paced business without missing a beat.

Being able to combine mobile apps with their main software allows them to keep everyone accountable and items accounted for, saving time and money when customers have questions or items are damaged and require repairs. Office staff, drivers, and fitters all have an active involvement in making sure the system is accurate and true.

“The built-in staff management system is a real hidden gem that sometimes gets overlooked,” said Crussell. “You can manage the administration of staff including their holiday, absences and training all under one roof, which alerts you when you try to book a driver who’s on holiday for a run of deliveries.”

BOA Plant are now able to trace the entire history of their fleet, tools, and machines and back that data up securely. When a machine is damaged on a customer site and deemed an unacceptable condition to be returned in, BOA Plant are covered – they use their mobile app to record condition photos of the machine upon delivery, attach it with the customer’s signature to a contract, and follow the same procedure upon pickup. Then, as their team records parts ordered and labour time into the system, it provides a record with which they recover repair costs from their customer.

With in-depth reporting that allows them to identify trends and adjust inventory to meet requirements, along with a support team that keeps in touch “from start to finish,” resolving any issues they have, BOA Plant are well situated for the foreseeable future with Point of Rental.
