Background

Flannery Plant Hire has been around since 1972, starting by hiring out a single excavator. In 2025, they have more than 5200 units and 2200 operators supporting clients throughout the British Isles.

 

As you can imagine, sustaining that level of operations requires everyone to be on the same page. Michael Zubek and the company’s data and IT team are in charge of helping make sure that happens.

Challenge

Syrinx provides access to the information needed to manage contracts, track fleet activity, and keep things moving. It’s easy to use, which ensures that everyone within the company is entering data accurately. Michael’s role is to take that data and turn it into something useful—for the company and for its customers.

 

But because of the size and scope of Flannery’s operations, Michael and team realised that standard reports weren’t going to cut it.

 

While everyone would love to have everything they need, out of the box, Michael explained, “We can’t always rely on…a one-size-fits-all solution.”

Solution

So they built custom reporting tools. Instead of spreadsheets, Michael and team used their Point of Rental data to build visual, interactive tools that staff could access from the service desk.

 

Suddenly, they could easily track revenue, spot seasonal shifts, and compare performance over time.

 

“We can give them reminders, we can color code it,” Michael explains. That means no more digging through files or working with outdated info. Syrinx makes it simple to see what’s happening, where, and when.

 

Flannery Plant also sync their Syrinx data with data from their telematics provider to keep tabs on how much each machine is being used on a weekly basis (at minimum). This helps Flannery Plant manage even on-hire equipment against their maintenance intervals, evaluate the need for additional usage billing, etc.

Results
